Scope of Work:
I am looking for an experienced and talented web developer to create a custom social media/networking site focused on travel planning using WordPress. The platform should have similar functionality to Facebook, allowing users to make and share posts, images, comments, create groups, and more. The primary purpose of the site is to enable users to share their travel plans and allow their friends and family, as well as their friends' networks, to join the trips if it fits their schedules.
Deliverables and Timeline:
I am not in a time crunch but would like to see a working demo of the site by August, if possible. We can discuss specific milestones and deliverables based on your expertise and availability.
Collaboration:
I am open to working closely with the developer throughout the project. Regular communication and updates on the progress are essential. However, I also value your expertise and ability to work independently.
Potential for Future Work:
If the initial project is successful and meets my expectations, there is potential for ongoing work, including site maintenance, updates, and additional feature development.

Strong proficiency in WordPress development
Experience with custom theme and plugin development
Familiarity with social media/networking site development, preferably including Facebook-like functionality
Knowledge of API integration, particularly with Tripit.com

Tripit.com - for integrating trip itineraries into their schedule. There should be a calendar view section that people can view all of their friends trips that are coming up. It would be nice to somehow connect to the tripit.com service. Tripit has shareable links that allow others to see someones trip itinerary, including flight, hotels, transportation, and other travel information. There should also be functionality on who can view the trip so users can restrict the trip to certain people on the site like family only, certain friends, etc. There should be a join button that allows people to join the trip. Also, maybe some milestones for when people have purchased their flights and hotels. There should also be a forum for each trip posted so that people can discuss additional plans for their trips like restaurant suggestions, tours, landmarks. I would also like a suggested articles page about the cities that are in the trip page that would automatically search the internet for the top things to do, places to eat, places to visit, etc. Please let me know if this project is something within your capability. I am not in a time crunch, but would like to see a working demo by August, if possible. Thank you for your time. I am hosting my own server/website and don't want any of the services to rely on monthly fees for any plugins, if possible. I also need to set up email automation for when people register to the website for welcome emails as well as notification emails.
